Tens of thousands of years ago, musk oxen lived side by side with the woolly mammoth in the mountains and valleys of what is now Norway. Today you can still experience this primeval animal alive and well in the Dovrefjell mountain range.

Musk Ox Safari

If you join a guided tour, you are almost certain to see these primeval animals in Dovrefjell, and the guide will keep you safe and give you plenty of time to study and photograph the majestic king of Dovrefjell.

The Musk Ox Trail

Dovrefjell is the realm of the musk ox. Norway’s only population of musk oxen is found in Dovrefjell. Following the signposted Musk Ox Trail will give you good possibilities of seeing these shaggy primeval animals.
